Welcome to Squash the Beef. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Squash the Beef ("we," "us") governing your use of the Squash the Beef iOS app and related services (collectively, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
You must be at least 17 years old to use Squash the Beef. By signing up, you represent that you meet that age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.
Squash the Beef is currently available only to users in the United States.
The Service lets users ("you") file small grievances ("beefs") against other users, optionally with a small monetary amount attached. Recipients may voluntarily accept ("squash") the beef by paying the amount, refuse it, or ignore it. All payments are peer-to-peer, processed by Stripe via Apple Pay.
Important: All payments on Squash the Beef are voluntary. No beef imposes any legal obligation on the recipient. Refusing a beef has no consequence within the Service.
When you attach money to a beef and the recipient accepts it, funds move from you to them via Stripe. We charge a 3% platform fee on accepted transfers. You authorize us to initiate that transfer upon acceptance.
The recipient may refuse or refund a beef at any time before they accept it; in that case, funds held in escrow are returned to you, typically within 5–10 business days. Once a beef is accepted ("squashed"), it is final.
After your one free lifetime beef, continued beef-filing requires a Squash Pro subscription.
You agree not to use Squash the Beef to:
We may remove content, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these rules, at our sole discretion.
You're responsible for the content you submit (beef reasons, messages, etc.). By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and transmit that content as necessary to operate the Service. You retain ownership.
We don't moderate content proactively but may remove anything that violates these Terms. Use the in-app report feature on any beef or user you believe violates the rules.
The Service relies on Apple, Stripe, Twilio, and other providers. Your use of those services is also subject to their respective terms. We're not responsible for outages or failures of third-party systems.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Squash the Beef's total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of (a) $100 or (b) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or lost data.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Squash the Beef, its affiliates, and its personnel from any claim, demand, loss, or damages (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms.
Any dispute between you and Squash the Beef arising out of these Terms or the Service will be resolved by binding individual arbitration under the Consumer Arbitration Rules of the American Arbitration Association, rather than in court, except that you may assert claims in small-claims court if your claims qualify. You and Squash the Beef each waive the right to a jury trial and the right to participate in a class action.
If you don't want to be bound by arbitration, you may opt out by emailing support@squashthebeef.net within 30 days of creating your account with the subject line "Arbitration Opt-Out."
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (payment obligations, disclaimers, liability limits, dispute resolution) will survive.
We may update these Terms. If we make material changes, we'll notify you in the app and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the revised Terms.
